Happy Easter

Happy Easter to all!  Today we went to early church with friends so we didn't have time to check out what the Easter Bunny had left, but we could tell it was a ton of stuff.  Miss Chelsie's Easter basket couldn't hold it all so he used a bowl and the kitchen counter.

After coming home from church miss Chelsie had a chance to check things out.

Everyone of her plastic eggs had something in it.  There were braclets, rice puffs and pony tail holders just to mention a few.

After checking out all of her stuff from the Easter Bunny we met up again with our friends for an Easter egg hunt and lunch at the club.

At the Easter egg hunt the Easter Bunny was actually there.

Miss Chelsie's friend Evan gave her a cute little chick that peeped when held in your hand.

Miss Chelsie loved the Easter Bunny!

After lunch, we got back home and miss Chelsie's friends Meghan and Jordan from next door came out in their Easter dresses so we could take photos.

Such a special first Easter for miss Chelsie.  We prayed and thanked our Jesus for making this day such a Special Day on the Christian calender.  Someday, Chelsie will understand the sacrifice that was made for all of humanity.

Decorating Easter Eggs

We had a lot of eggs to decorate today.  Our friend gave us some eggs that varied in shades of brown and there was even a green egg.  We also had some plastic eggs and  white eggs that we bought at the store.

Early in the day miss Chelsie started decorating the plastic eggs.  Mama found these great stickers that were easy to put on.  The package also included a little stand to place the decorated egg in.

Miss Chelsie decorated this egg all by herself.  Isn't it beautiful!

Later in the day Aunt E and Uncle M showed up.  So... they got to help with the decorating and dying of the real eggs.

Of course mama and dada got to help too.

Cousins J and M came over so they got to join in on the fun as well.  They helped miss Chelsie finish decorating the plastic eggs.

Below are miss Chelsie's beautifully decorated plastic eggs

And here are the real eggs.  They were such beautiful colors.  No two were the same.  The light egg closest to the center is the green egg we didn't dye it as it was such a pretty shade of green already.

Exercising With Dada

Each evening dada gives miss Chelsie her milk and then they exercise to help with the gas.  Mama is typically upstairs getting her bath but can hear them.  The usual noise she hears is miss Chelsie saying "up - down" as she reaches up to the sky and down to touch her toes.  But tonight their was a lot of laughter so mama had to check out what was going on and it looked like dada was getting the workout.

Finger Licking Good

As we have mentioned before miss Chelsie does not like textures so we try different things to encourage eating.  Well today we were eating a couple of girl scout cookies and decided to give miss Chelsie one.  As you can see she knew just what to do and enjoyed it.

After the first few licks the chocolate began melting in her hand.

She wasn't really sure what to do about the messy fingers.

So she decided to try a lick.

And lick

And lick.

And lick.

And a "tongue rap" lick.

And finally the fist pump as she was successful in getting her fingers clean.

Sunday Dress

Ok we know that it is St. Patricks Day but miss Chelsie didn't have  a green dress.  She did have this cute light blue dress that she wore last summer.  It was given to her by some very special people.  To our delight it still fit her.

Our girl loves to dress up, she is such a girly girl.

Beautiful Day

Today was such a beautiful day we decided to take a walk in the neighborhood.  Here is a picture of miss Chelsie looking to see who was checking her out.

After our walk Chelsie's friend Evan rode down in his "John Deere Tractor" and gave miss Chelsie a ride around the cul-de-sac.

Then dada pulled out his golf clubs for her to swing.  We may have another golfer in the family.  Can you LPGA.  Dada and Mama's retirement fund?

We Have Toenails!

Ok this may not be something that most people take notice of, but we had to celebrate and share.  Miss Chelsie's fingernails and toenails are slowly growing.  When we first got her there were not any nailbeds and after a few weeks of good nutrition we noticed changes but not any nails.  We believe it to be due to malnutrition.  Hopefully when we have testing in May we will know for sure.

But today we have nails that needed to be cut.  They were so tiny but enough to cut.

Easter Basket and Hurdle

Today we decided to introduce miss Chelsie to her Easter basket.  We wanted her to get comfortable with it so she would be ready to hunt Easter eggs.  Well she thought it was great!  We bought her a multi colored basket and some pink and yellow grass to put in it.  We found some old plastic eggs (they were at least 20 years old), a pink bunny and a blue bunny that mama had been saving for years and some new little chicks...so voila an Easter basket.

As you can see miss Chelsie had a ball.  She loves life so much and finds so much joy in everything she does.  In the picture below she was kissing the blue bunny and then laughing about it.

We crossed a hurdle today.  In the last week we have been able to lay miss Chelsie down in her cradle without her waking up.  So we decided to try the crib at nap time instead of the cradle and she slept for about an hour.  As they say???  One step at a time.

Miss Hollywood

Chelsie has always loved sun glasses but they would not stay on her face.  Through trial and error we found that if we put on a hat and put the arms of the glasses into the hat that they would stay on for just a few minutes.  Today, while grocery shopping, miss Chelsie finds the sunglass rack and wouldn't you know it, they had tinker bell glasses.  So we had to try them on and to our suprise they stayed on.  We couldn't leave the store without them.

The best part that she thought that she was "it".  She was dancing and making such a fuss that people were stopping in the aisles and laughing with her.  She really had a great time with her new shades.  What a special day for us as we couldn't believe the pride it gave her to be able to hold those on without any help.  And... she let everyone around know it!

Saying Cheese

Chelsie's Aunt E loves to take photos so we have been working on saying "cheese" so when we have a photo taken it will look like we are smiling.  Mama has miss Chelsie sitting on her lap trying to get her to say cheese while she takes pictures.  We did get a couple good ones as miss Chelsie got so tickled at saying the word "cheese".

A Day of Celebration

Today was a day of celebration!  Since miss Chelsie's surgery we have encourged her to feel her nose, stick her fingers in it and to blow it.  After all, she went the first two years of her life not being able to do these typical kid things.  Well this evening she was sitting on dada's lap while he was watching a ball game.  Mama was in the kitchen putting up groceries when she hears dada say "Did you just hand me a booger?"  Mama grabbed the camera just in time to snap a photo.  Miss Chelsie did just pick her first boogie!

Enchanted

The first tv show/movie miss Chelsie has shown any interest in is the disney movie Enchanted.  She came up with her own sign back in September to let us know that she wanted to watch it.  So today while it was on I told her since she looked so pretty that mama wanted to take some pictures of her.  Well, I should have known that I needed to wait until the movie was over as she would not look at the camera.

One of Daisy's favorite places to sit in the house is on the arm of the chair.  She sits with one back leg on each side of the arm and her torso rests on the back of the chair and her head and front legs on the top.  Well after the movie was over miss Chelsie decided that she needed to sit with Daisy on the chair and rest for a few minutes.
